This isn't just a bad photo, the sign is very aged by the sun and the rain. I've glued down the edges with gorilla glue to keep it alive. :)
The sign reads,
"Witches Spells, for sale or rent.
1. Frog to Prince to Frog
2. Plague of Locusts
3. Cauldron non-stick disinfectant
4. Poison apple recipes
5. Love at first Fright
6. Broom Flight with free upgrade
7. Magic Mole Cream
8. Hair web and lice removal
9. Insect Attractant
10. Sleeping spells with free rat removal
It's a fun little sign about 11 inches long and 6 inches across (aprox).
This antique sign hung outside my house for 10 years. I used to sell perfume oils and bath salts in my new age store and from my home. This was a novelty sign for advertising and because I was the "neighborhood fairy lady" and "Bruja". I had a 40 ft. long fairy garden all the kids played in every day. These signs and trinkets were a part of that. There is a lot of love and child driven magic associated with these things. The kids BELIEVED there were fairies and gnomes and elves living in the garden. Regardless of how much their parents would scold them or explain "there are no such thing as magic and fairies" they would argue until their parents gave up. Soon, the entire neighborhood donated fairy houses and little statues for the kids to play with.
I sincerely hope the new owner of that house will allow the tradition to continue.
